AT THE 2013 PACIFIC LOGGING CONGRESS CONVENTION

PACIFIC LOGGING CONGRESS 104TH ANNUAL CONVENTION

NOVEMBER 4, 5, and 6, 2013  ~PARIS LAS VEGAS, LAS VEGAS, NEVADA

Greetings;

The 104th annual meeting of the Pacific Logging Congress will be headquartered at Paris Las Vegas, Las Vegas, Nevada.   Located on the strip and the busiest four corners in the U.S.

Beginning in 1909 the Pacific Logging Congress has provided a forum for loggers to talk among themselves, equipment manufacturers, and timber owners about the "state of art" regarding the economic movement of timber "from stump to dump"; as conditions have changed over the passage of time, PLC has broadened its program to include discussions of regulatory and political issues.  At all times, we have provided steadfast support of the timber industry; a solid educational outreach has been developed and provided by the Pacific Forest Foundation upon which our members from throughout the Pacific Rim have come to rely.  Industry leaders and business executivies gather annually to discuss current issues impacting the management of our most natural (and GREEN!!) resource, timber, and to develop solutions to meet the needs of Harvest, regeneration, longevity and stability.    The 104th Congress will address the theme of the 2013 convention  "Adopt or Die - Competing in the Future Forest Industry"

The Convention will kick off on Monday afternoon with the 'Welcome' Reception; the first day of meetings will begin on Tuesday morning with the hosted breakfast and meetings held at Paris Las Vegas.  On Wednesday, our final  day of the convention,  the day will begin with a hosted breakfast and meetings.  The close of the convention that evening with the President’s reception, dinner and Pacific Forest Foundation Auction all of the functions will be held at the Paris Las Vegas.  Make your plans now to join us in Las Vegas, information will be available soon to reserve your room at  Paris Las Vegas.

Education is an important aspect of the PLC and Pacific Forest Foundation, well confirmed with wide acceptance of the popular It Takes A Tree curriculum distributed free of charge throughout the united States and Canada to thousands of science teachers.  With the assistance of the Oregon Forest Resource Institute, PLC / PFF hosted over 2,000 children at the 6th Live Woods Show in September of 2010.  Plans are now underway to repeat this invitation to school children for the 2014 "In The Woods" show under the leadership of Duane Evans of Port Blakely Tree Farms.

Our new flagship program, "This Is My Office" has received outstanding reviews worldwide and in May of 2010 the DVD won the Silver Telly Award.  We are excited and extremely proud of this achievement.  Certainly, it will lead to even greater accomplishments through the future combined endeavors of PLC/PFF.  In addition, the Pacific Forest Foundation website   www.pacificforestfoundation.org is actively being used by high school and college students alike who are seeking careers in the timber industry.

I am extending my personal invitation to join us at the 104th Pacific Logging Congress Annual Convention, November 4, 5, 6, 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  If you have any questions, please call the PLC office at 425-413-2808 or email rikki@pacificloggingcongress.com.

I look forward to seeing you at Paris Las Vegas, Las Vegas, Nevada.

Sincerely,

Graham Lasure, 2013 President
